Gem Diver - Post Mortem and Timelapse

This was my second attempt at the Jam, and I'm definitely a lot happier with my entry this time around. It's a lot more polished, less buggy, and more fun. Because of work, I didn't exactly sleep much. Something like, 3hrs of sleep on the first and last nights, 6hrs on the middle night, and I'm pretty sure on the third night I was awake for 24hrs before passing out. Do not recommend, as a general rule. I don't regret it though.

The Good
I knocked out a playable prototype quickly, and the game could have technically been called "done" by the end of the first night. The rest of the time got to be used polishing, improving, and drawing. Lots of drawing. I'm pretty sure every level has at least one unique sprite, as well as a unique background. I also managed to actually build a total of seven unique levels, as well as a sorta decent, for the time I had, random endless run. I even managed to make use of free time at work to draw a handful of sprites. Overall the game turned out good enough that I was excited to show it to people.

The Bad
A few bugs made it through. The most obvious being that moving objects freak out if they intersect, which would have been fine without the vertical moving bubbles in the water level. Not the worst thing though, just obviously buggy on a visual level. I wish I could have spent a little more time on sounds. I had been hoping to have each level have a sort of ambiance over the background music. In the end, I just had to go with a hastily put together background track. Sorted still fits the light tone I was going for at least. Game name, I don't really care for it. And I really wish I could have spent more time improving the "endless" mode. It's kinda slapped together at the moment, and the blocks still have a tendency to overlap a lot.
