Metal Rescue - Bug fix (v1.0.1)
Hello guys, some people reported me some bugs in my game that makes the game impossible to play (like super speed), so I've opened a question here to ask if I can upload a bug fix version, and the answer is: Yes! So I made it! You can still download the 1.0.0 version (first version) at the itch io game page, but I highly suggest you to download the 1.0.1 version (bug fix version).
Following the Ludum Dare rules, here is what I done:
Bug Fix log:
Player very fast on cheap (old) computers (low fps).
Player crossing walls on cheap (old) computers (low fps).
Player climbing the door (not supposed to happen).
The resolution for the two first bugs was simple: I didn't know that the game engine that I'm using (UPBGE), recently implemented a default DeltaTime on the movements, and I was multiplying the Deltatime to the movements: Double delta time multiplication = makes the player fast on low FPS. I fixed this removing my own delta time. For extra "security" purposes, to prevent the player to cross walls, I've added an rayCast to verify if something is in front of the player before he walks. (about 2 extra lines of code, something like: obj = player.rayCast(front, player); if obj != None: Player can't walk!).
Finally, the last bug (climbing on doors), I've noticed a weird operation in my code: I was subtracting a vector, with already negative values when I was verifying the climb position (something like this: "pos -= Vector([0,0,-2])"). And this was increasing the climb area uppon the player (what this was supposed to do is: decrease the area!). The solution was simple: just change the "-=" to a "+=" (like this: "pos += Vector([0,0,-2])"). And I had to play a little bit with this number value, to make everything works again.
You can now download and play my game without any weird bugs :D https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/metal-rescue
Thanks!
