Hi Guys,

This Is A Post Mortem Of My Game "Planer"

BTW Im Only 11

Sound

I Think I Should Have Done Better With The Sound As The Music Was Created In Ten Minutes By Me Drawing Random MIDI Notes In Ableton Live. Also I Think I Should Have Done Better Sound Effects. I Got The Error Sound But Thats All I Had.

Graphics

I Think My Models Were Ok But I Could Have Done Better. Although I Have Only Used Blender For 6 Months Now. Also I Think The Orbs Like Energy And Coins Could Have Done Better Than An Isohedron And A Isohedron That Is Squished.

Also The Trails On The Enemy Planes Were Out Of Place Because For Some reason The Plane Models Was Imported Sideways.

Gameplay

I Liked My Smooth Controls On My Plane To Stop It From Turning Sideways As You Can Only Turn To A Certain Position. Lots Of People Were Asking For An Inverted Y Option And The Only Reason Why I Didnt Have It Is Because I Dont Play Many Plane Sims And I Find It Easier To Use WASD.

Also The Enemy Planes Were A Nice Edition Because It Game Some Kind Of Thing You Have To Dodge And Sometimes When You Need A Orb To Survive The Enemy Plane Just Comes Through The Orb And Hits You.

For The Energy Bar It Was A Little Glitched And Even If The Bar Was Half Way Full The Float That Controls Energy Was near 0 So You Died When You Didnt Think You Would.

My Favourite Power Up Was The Boost Because It Made You Go Really Fast And It Reset Your Energy.

UI

My UI Was Quite Terrible But It Was Better Than Having A UI That Was Attached To The Camera. I Hate UI Attached To The Camera Because Of The Size And Placement Differs On Different Resolutions So I Normally Have Them Atleast As An Object Attached To The Camera Or A World Space GUI So I Dont Have A Massive Canvas.

Am I Proud Of It

Yes, This Has Been My Only Game To Get Over 20 score And This Is My 3rd Ludum Dare. All My Other Games Are Terrible And This Is The First Game I Actually Felt I Had Time On.

Idea

I Didnt Get The Idea At First. I started At 7:00 And Had Already Finished A Game Idea By 9:00 And By Finished I Mean I Had IT Polished By 9:00. So I Thought:

My Holiday Is In Two Weeks, To Go On Holiday You Go On Planes, All Planes Have Fuel, Fuel Runs Out, LIKE DOES ENERGY!!!!

And So I Spent Two Days Creating A Flight Sim.
