Sugarplum Summit - Development
Hello again! As I promised earlier, here is my little write up on the development of Sugarplum Summit. If you haven't played our game yet, check it out on the Jam page!
Unity was my tool for the job. I have tons of experience with the engine and the 2D development tools were just what I needed. Pulling temp assets from a previous project, I started like I start any game project, get something moving!

This gif is of a build I finished up on Sunday morning (pushed it at 2:26am to be precise). As you can see none of that cute af art made it in yet and the enemies go off screen sometimes. But despite all that it still looks pretty similar yeah?
Getting the game to end after 120 seconds was easy, and once the SHMUP level was done I moved onto the boss. I won't have any gifs of it for spoilers sake, but holy moly the boss's last attack caused and STILL IS CAUSING me so many bugs! My favorite is when I tried applying some screen shake to it, the sprite decided to just not render in the game view. Worked just fine in the editor view though :)))! exasperated screech

Anyways I'll leave you with this image of part of our repository, can you pinpoint the time where the crunch stress set in? ;)

Also if you haven't checked out Sugarplum Summit, head over to our page and give it whirl! Can you succeed against the enemies of our dear sugarplum fairy?
