Spacelitch Pixelart Timelapse

I finally got around to slapping my pixelart timelapse video of Spacelitch together. Pixelart done in Photoshop CS6, level design in Tiled, screenshots taken with ChronoLapse.

Mini-Graphics Post Mortem

All in all I am quite pleased with how the graphics of the game ended up. Given that there was a lot less animating to do than I did for Artax in LD39 (see its timelapse video), I could shift focus to include writing the dialogue, and designing the level, which @meatmachine had done for Artax.

Successes (Or things I am happy with.) * Pretty cool ship designs (always start from silhouettes!) * Parallax scrolling in space * Four different character portraits * Slick explosion animation

Failures (Or things I wish I'd had more time for.) * Kind of boring background tiles, lots of flat green/grey surface area * No real dynamic background effects * Spent a relatively large chunk of time animating a double helix laser blast which didn't end up look great in game * No time to draw a cool splash screen (I imagined a Star Wars-like poster featuring the four characters with some space ships in the background - entirely unfeasible in the time we had )
