“Hardcore FPS Clicker Game” - F.P.S - Frootz per Second

We tried to make hardcore meets casual. Our take on the theme was to make a clicker game (about kittens and cereal) with FPS shooter mechanics in it. You have to click to obtain Frootz, a kitten cereal. At the same time, there is a First Person Shooter game running in an in-game PC. The problem is that the game is not running at a smooth frames per second rate, so you cannot play it very well. The more you click, the more FPS (frootz per second) you get, which corresponds to the FPS (frames per second) of the FPS (first person shooter) game the kittens are playing.

I think one of the most successful parts of the game jam was picking a very small scope and going with it, iterating with it really quickly. We had a very early version which was a FPS shooter totally separated from the clicker game and it was REALLY boring. Only the quick iteration allowed us to spot that and revamp the idea to make what we ended up with. I'm so proud!
