Final Round: Favorites

HERE IT IS. DUM DUM DUM! The final voting round! Now, since I already went through all the themes in my previous posts, so in this post instead I will simply state my favorites among the bunch.

For a large view here is the whole bunch: Unbenannt2.PNG EDIT: Evolve is now 0 instead of +1

Surprisingly a bunch of amazing themes in the final round (yey). Now to my personal favs:

===========================

*Decay: *This theme has amazing "Fill in the Blanks" potential. What - is decaying? Why - is it decaying? How - will it affect the game? Filling in the "it" part and in general answering the questions will create a huge pool of potential games. It also doesn't completely dictate the flow of the game. You could make a game where one of the major game mechanics involve decay and it still would be in the bounds of the theme.

*Two points of View: *Even though I'm not generally a fan of themes which order a certain amount of an arbitary whatever, in this context of "viewpoints" I think the number 2 fits very well (in the sense of opposites), this is unlike a theme like "3" rules where the "3" was placed there on a completely random basis for no real reason at all. This theme perfectly alligns with my general idea of what a great theme is. Restrictive but not to the point where it limits creative freedom. This theme can have a stupendous amount of interpretations about what the point of view is and how there are two sides to that point of view.

*It's Spreading: *Another good theme that forces you to answer basic questions. What - is spreading. Where - is it spreading. Why - is it spreading? Could someone or something be - spreading it? Simply answering, What, Where and Why will already create a huge variety in themes and then obviously you could then take it a step further if you wish to add an interesting interpretation to the theme.

Out of all of my favorites my true #1 is easily "Two points of View". I kept this theme positive because I need all the positive reinforcement I need before going into any Ludum Dare. Stay happy and eat lots of Pizza!
