Games I've Enjoyed

Ok, here's another round of games I've played this Ludum Dare and really enjoyed. I don't have any real criteria other than when I look over my rated games list I think "other people should play this!"

Ultimate Question - 42

JAM GAME by Andrey Ugolnik (@andrey-ugolnik) , Hodas (@hodas) , Dorzhgotov (@dorzhgotov) , and Usanio (@usanio)

This is another simple game with a huge amount of polish. You only need one button. You click, press whatever to launch your spaceship outwards to new planets while the black hole in the middle sucks everything inwards. This is what I aspire to make in game jam games. Short, complete and polished.

Ice Interstice

COMPO GAME by aeveis (@aeveis)

Another simple game that works really well. Cover all the blocks with ice by walking over them, or by breathing on existing ice blocks to cover ones that are out of reach. The puzzles are fun and the difficulty progression is great. You will walk through the first couple levels learning the mechanics but have to think in some of the later ones. Music and SFX are simple but charming. Plus, it was made with my game engine of choice, HaxeFlixel.

Raft vs Shark

JAM GAME by Batlordz (@batlordz)

You are a pirate on a raft being slowly destroyed by sharks and crazy wave waterspout things. Run around and click on the raft to repair it. At first it seems easy, but as you get farther from the shore things get really frantic. It always ended for me when I would move just one extra space and end up in the water, probably to be eaten by sharks... Graphics and sound work, as well as mood.

Last Piece

JAM GAME by WetBox (@wetbox)

This game looks beautiful. Gameplay is simple. What will happen is the first time you play you won't really understand it and you will lose. Then the second or third time you will make it trivial to survive and instead spend your time building a mega island. Like a god-mode Minecraft.

Any other games you really think need to be played?
