I set my goals too high.
Hello everyone! As you may guess - I'm fairly new to GameJams. My first one was Brackeys game jam and I started small with a simple endless 2D Platformer. This time I tried to do something bigger. A 3D RPG. (Singleplayer obviously). But I fiddled around too much with the details and my artist got sick so I had to do that part as well. And that was half way through.
Anyways. About 7 hours before the finish line I decided to not publish my work in progress. It would be only cool to show off the features like mining, collecting mushrooms, combat system... But not really a fun game to play!
What do you think? Should I have published the game even at an unfinished state? As of now I'm still working on the game and adding features. Even more as planned for the jam. Mounts, fishing, cooking, crafting, advanced inventory system, equipment, items, upgrades, enchantments, fly routes, camera systems, spells/special abilities...
What else should be added to a good single player RPG? The story of course. But as this is some kind of template to base the actual game off, that doesn't matter yet.
Take a look at the screenshot and the Video if you would like to see what I made. :)
