What if you grab a risky powerup, that wasn't an upgrade, it was a downgrade, that gave you limited memory, but made you ridiculously overpowered? But your lifeforce is now your currency, and everything has a price, so you have to shelter yourself underground in a tiny town so that your only one enemy doesn't find you? Unfortunately, the side effect of that powerup was that you mutated and were now an alien, so you have to fly into space, changing the genre of the game to a game where you have to escape the astronauts because your mutation is contagious?
