After hibernating and recovering from the weekend, I thought I'd share a little process art stuff. For many of us, this was our first point and click adventure game, and we also had several artists trying to align to a single style, so there was a lot of visual planning to get to our final result. Please [give us a play](https:\/\/webthingee.itch.io\/shipwrekt) so we can get enough votes to receive a rating, thank you! \n\n---\n\nAfter coming up with the idea of a robot with draining battery life (and then the plot that he finds another robot that he needs to power), we explored those characters, which allowed one artist to get started on that. \n\n![characters.jpg](\/\/\/raw\/78a\/c\/z\/24291.jpg)\n\nThen we spent a _lot_ of time planning the levels. Here are some quick wireframes to validate the concept, defining some of the interactions and asking ourselves, well, would this be fun? \n\n![wires.jpg](\/\/\/raw\/78a\/c\/z\/24290.jpg)\n\nThe next day, a couple of us fleshed out a game flow, using a wall and lots of post-its. This gave us all our points of interaction, the level and object design needed to accomplish that, logic for the battery draining, and all the points of dialogue. This mess was translated into two digital bulleted lits: for all the dialogue, and to define MVP functionality (which of course was still way too big, haha, lesson for next time).\n\n![IMG_20190501_121130.jpg](\/\/\/raw\/78a\/c\/z\/2427c.jpg)\n\nThen we did a moodboard of other games and ideas that inspired us; we found games with a pixel density we liked, some drab color examples, and researched old operating system design. This allowed us to divide and conquer for the next two days, between the map and object art, characters, cut-scenes, logo, and UI. \n\n---\n\nHere is what we ended up with! \n\n\n![lb-kt-zd-jetpack-2x.png](\/\/\/raw\/78a\/c\/z\/24281.png)\n\n![gUXm7n.png](\/\/\/raw\/78a\/c\/z\/24288.png)\n\n![Screenshot 2019-05-01 12.28.54.png](\/\/\/raw\/78a\/c\/z\/2429f.png)\n\n![Screenshot 2019-05-01 12.26.01.png](\/\/\/raw\/78a\/c\/z\/2427f.png)\n\n![Screenshot 2019-05-01 12.26.18.png](\/\/\/raw\/78a\/c\/z\/24280.png)\n\n![Screenshot 2019-05-01 12.26.32.png](\/\/\/raw\/78a\/c\/z\/24282.png)\n\n![Screenshot 2019-05-01 12.27.04.png](\/\/\/raw\/78a\/c\/z\/24283.png)\n\n![Screenshot 2019-05-01 12.28.06.png](\/\/\/raw\/78a\/c\/z\/24284.png)\n\n![Screenshot 2019-05-01 12.28.36.png](\/\/\/raw\/78a\/c\/z\/24285.png)\n\n![Screenshot 2019-04-28 12.49.17.png](\/\/\/raw\/78a\/c\/z\/24286.png)\n\nYou can see all the art by playing the game [here](https:\/\/webthingee.itch.io\/shipwrekt). \nEither way, thanks for any feedback  :v: \n\n","comments":4,"comments-timestamp":"2019-05-01T20:30:32Z","created":"2019-05-01T16:06:01Z","files":[],"files-timestamp":0,"id":155648,"love":5,"love-timestamp":"2019-05-01T19:13:41Z","meta":[],"modified":"2019-05-01T20:30:32Z","name":"SHIP-WRE-KT Art ","node-timestamp":"2019-05-01T16:47:15Z","parent":141297,"parents":[1,5,9,139254,141297],"path":"\/events\/ludum-dare\/44\/ship-wre-kt\/ship-wre-kt-art","published":"2019-05-01T16:41:46Z","scope":"public","slug":"ship-wre-kt-art","subsubtype":"","subtype":"","type":"post","version":467741},"node_metadata":{"n_key":"155648","n_urlkey":"347959","n_parent":"141297","n_path":"\/events\/ludum-dare\/44\/ship-wre-kt\/ship-wre-kt-art","n_slug":"ship-wre-kt-art","n_type":"post","n_subtype":"","n_subsubtype":"","n_author":"51847","n_created":"1556726761","n_modified":"1556742632","n_version":"467741","n_status":"WAYBACK"},"source_url":"https:\/\/ldjam.com\/events\/ludum-dare\/44\/ship-wre-kt\/ship-wre-kt-art","text":"Hi all.
