Hi everybody !

This post will be like @jeremy-ryan 's (that you can find here). I'll copy his idea of selecting games by LD's categories but I'll try to name other games that he's speak about. But, definitely check out his post, he's got some nice picks.

*The dealine for _Playing+Rating_ is in a few days now, so I guess it's the perfect time for sharing with you the best games I've played so far. *

I've prioritize games that have not many ratings. Most of them are under 50 ratings, sometimes they barely have 20 and one even has only 6 ratings, definitely check it out for him to score !!!

Overall

The Tail of the Serpent by @le-slo (JAM) and Pucamuc by @catonator and @mors (JAM)

Music, innovative and fun gameplay, good take on the theme, great atmosphere and nice graphics, they have it all. These are my absolute best picks on this LD. Definitely check them out.

Pucamuc is a super juicy and colorful aventure plateformer with great humor and actual game design. In this game you have to move while jumping which is a bit weird at first but then become like a second nature with which you can fool around and have fun.The levels are challenging but not too difficult, creative enough to introduce new mechanics very frequently and have a little depht with secrets here and there. GREAT JOB to the team.

The Tail of The Serpent is a great puzzle game with a simple but effective atmosphere. The gameplay here evolves around the question: how can you move as a snake? You can eat your tail to become smaller and also to change the composition of your body with different orb shapes that needs to be in certain places to win the level. Overall the experience is super if you're into puzzle games.

Theme

15 Minutes to Live by @f1krazy (COMPO) and Ente by @j0ye (COMPO)

Well, Compo really seems to let you dive into great ideas for a game.

In Ente you have to sell your own true secrets to the NPCs to have more time to spent on the island. Here, your own life is currency and you feel really like loosing cherished memories that you never shared with anyone to continue playing.

15 Minutes to Live delivers a very interesting story inspired by the movie "In Time". In this game, all humans have predetermined lifespans but yours has been stolen. You wake up and have only 15 Minutes to Live and to discover who stoll you your lifespan.

Mood

The Trade by @jantunes, @isaque-picao-sanches, @davidvfilipe and @chickenpt (JAM)

This one only have 6 ratings!

The Trade is really hard to describe, you really have to experience it. Here, we got a true art performance. It's something very different, something that will really make you have deep feelings, that will make you be face to face with yourself ... The description of this game is not lying … Definitely try it out.

Graphics

Dear substance of Kin by @deconstructeam (JAM)

This one could have be in the mood category too. Dear Substance of Kin is a masterpiece of pixel art that uses details and such to give a dark atmosphere to the game. You embody a mysterious figure that ventures one more time in a desolate village to listen to the people's desires. I'm not telling more, it's an amazing game that needs to be experienced by itself.

There is no "Narrative" category in LD's classification but this one has an interesting storytelling which is not only by reading and learning but also by doing.

Audio

Inflate me to the Moon by @xellaya and @ddrkirbyisq (JAM)

Inflate me to the Moon (that could be subtitled "a tribute to Bart Howard") is a game made of fast paced and very fun mini games.

I have absolutely adored the music of this game and also its sound effects that were super rich. The overall score of the game is pretty diverse and super catchy. Really, like, many genres and even a cover! :O It goes really well with the art style in making a goofy atmosphere with a - kind of - dramatic storytelling :)

I had a ton of fun playing this game which is also very, very polished.

And it has voice over ... me being like "what ?!" Definitely wins the Audio category.

Fun

KNIFE=LIFE by @quadape (COMPO) and Our Dear Friend by @jyrkface, @ham and @wildebeest (JAM)

KNIFE=LIFE is an awesome action game where you shoot knives with slowmotion and dodge ennemies' bullets. You can buy powerups in exchange for hearts and collect more hearts as you progress in the level. The mechanic and the physics are overall very well done and the actual gameplay is super addictive and very fun. There is a loooot of juice in there and you'll love to die and retry until you're the boss of the game.

Our Dear Friend takes a more narrative turn but is also super fun with a lot of feedback and gameplay elements. Here you progress in a dark cave with your hook and a few arrows. You can then trade some of your maximum health for powerups (more arrows, more rope, more jumps). The level adds more ennemy types as you progress. Also, you have a bit of lore and atmosphere with some dialogue lines, which is super cool. The art, also, is pretty well done because you can't see really far from you so you must learn to be careful ...

Innovation

Seize The Clay by @failedstarfish, @adamd and @seconddimension (JAM) and 99 hearts by @failpositive and @barret (JAM)

Seize the Clay as the name suggests, is a game about pottery. It's like those NintendoDS-make-your-art games. You have everything to make pottery and can be creative about it. Nice job, didn't see something like that coming.

99 Hearts is a game inspired by the board game Caracassonne. Here, you can make your own map each time you kill all the ennemies on a tile. And each tile gives you also a random powerup. Then, you can quickly become mega baddass and overpowered and that's a ton of fun!

Also, both of these game have incredible soundtrack and are super fun to play.

Humor

Victor Spumante and the Raindrops of Burgundy by @gimblll (COMPO)

Well, it's time for the end of the list already. And I'm leaving you with one of the absolute art pieces that this jam - no, the world! - has to offer ... Victor Spumante and the Raindrops of Burgundy. I think it needs no explaination, just be curious ;)
