When I sat down to write a visual novel, I knew what I wanted. The game would start in the middle of the week. Maeko, the protagonist, had already sold her memories for the first three days of the week (including her memory of selling these memories in the first place). You could then play the next three days of the week, selling new memories, buying back old memories, remembering and forgetting. Depending on what you remember (or how much money you get from forgetting), you could experience a variety of endings focused on different goals: love, family, wealth, jail-time, career, etc. Throw in a 15-year-old daughter, a non-binary love interest, a mysterious corporation, and a talking cat, and I thought I had the makings of an original story that would shine in its depth, humor, and cyberpunk art.

Hahahahah this is Ludum Dare NOPE.

By the time I had written the entire story in a Google Spreadsheet, I knew I had fallen victim to overscoping. My amazing team had already done all the art, including the endings, the game engine, and the music. I couldn't let them down. There was nothing to do but dash through an implementation of the first day just to meet the deadline. But even as I submitted our game, I knew I had to return to complete the story.

And here it is! Check it out! It has all the endings! I played through the whole thing (2,523 times) to get the endings so I guarantee it! It's so shiny! I'm not biased! Though it's too late for the rating, it's never too late for you to experience the full dream that is the horror of walking out of a store on a Wednesday night with no memory of what you've done for the past three days (and you did some serious stuff).
