Opinion on new starting time

I want to bring up a little discussion on the new starting time: In my opinion, this new time is even more unfair for Europeans then the original times.

Let me explain: The last ludum dare started Saturday at 3:00 AM here in Germany (UTC +1) which - at first - sounds pretty bad. But if you consider sleep schedules (let's say i go to bed at 00:00 AM and wake up at 06:00 AM) i'd only loose 3h of work time that day.

Now with the new schedule, if i go to bed at 00:00 AM to not completely destroy my sleep schedule, i loose 6h at start which is twice as much.

And even if i shift my sleep schedule to 04:00 AM to 10:00 AM, i'd still loose a lot of productivity due to me being up so late.

Maybe i'm missing something but that doesn't sound more "Europe Friendly" to me. What do you guys think?

EDIT: I agree that it’s impossible to find a good starting time due to the global nature of this event. But i think it’s strange that this change was explicitly called a “EU friendlier time”
