Another example of propagation delay of logic gates

Focus on the NOT-gate. The Eye of Logic is commanding you!!!
This is what would theoreticaly happen if you connect gates in a circle. The input signal would propagate infinitely through the circuit. In reality an infinite propagation wouldn't happen, because every conductor has its own resistance which would weaken the signal every time it is passed from gate to gate. After a certain amount of times the signal would disappear because it lost too much energy (only, of course, if the gates don't have additional power sources^^).
