Night 1 - Rebuilding my dev environment
Well, that sucked.
I was super busy and didn't have time to check all my tools this time around. I use my work laptop for development (including hobby gamedev, shame on me) and found that since the last Ludum Dare work is using a new cloud based firewall/antivirus that doesn't let me get to the LDJam site as well as the license servers for some of my tools. So I spent the last couple hours moving my entire dev environment (and digging up old license keys) to my home desktop. Which just froze on me half an hour ago...
Anyways, we will see how far I get, but my plan is to make a game inspired by Battle Clash for the NSES. Remember the game where you are the gunner in a huge mech and you shoot guys with the Super Scope? Awesome stuff.
I'm doing something similar (actually, very similar). The game is 1 on 1 giant mech battles where you have to blast the guys, shoot down their missiles and ruin their day. My game will be slightly different since they will fire yellow bullets that will completely miss you and red bullets that you have to block with a shield (ripping off Time Crisis while I'm at it).
I've got some prototype stuff ready, but losing a few hours really hurts at the beginning of the project...
