The Wait For Ludum Dare 48
(I made that title up on the spot and it's actually pretty catchy.)
All right, that guy who posts random things is back! This time I'm talking about waiting another few months for Ludum Dare 48, and how I'm getting ready.
Prepping For Gamedev
This Ludum Dare I was fully unprepared and had no idea how bad it is to not have enough time. Only working on stuff for a few hours over the three days results in a short game with barely any audio and a sloppy walking animation. (Seriously, I spent probably no more than 10 minutes drawing all of the player's animations.) This results example was oddly specific, I wonder if it could be referring to this Ludum Dare's game Outside The Loop. ๐
So, I want to do something a bit longer and better for LD48. (Not saying this past Ludum Dare's game was awful... but it sure wasn't the best of LD47.) This consists of trying out team gamedev, use of different softwares and techniques, and just overall making sure I remember to keep my schedule clear around Ludum Dare.
Getting Ready For The Gaming!
My "Following" list just keeps getting bigger and bigger... I would include a nice simple gif of me scrolling through my "Following" list, but the gif would be hours long. (๐ Not really... but it is a pretty long list of people who I want to see make games in LD48.)
Keeping The Community Entertained
Because it turns out that the LD gamedev community is still going strong months after a jam! So I've been posting a bit of random assorted posts, everything from almost useless posts to my completely normal posts such as Game Spotlight and Game Sketches. (The second one needs work... ๐ . Don't worry everyone, next jam the sketches won't look so sloppy.) And of course, we can't forget this post! (Hard for me, since I'm typing this. And this. And this...)
And To Wrap It All Up...
...Dear reader, how do you get ready for Ludum Dares? Feel free to share your techniques in the comments!
