Hoplitelite – Finished!
This was my most complete entry in any ludum dare, I am super happy with how it turned out.
hoplitelite

My entry is inspired by a previous ludum dare entry (hoplite), along with roguelikes and chess in general.
You move your knight around the field, by clicking on the blue squares. You can attack enemies around you by clicking on them. If you hover over an enemy you’ll see they have unique attack patterns however, so you have to puzzle your way through the game to find openings to attack. Positioning is very important.

This was my first non-trivial use of js/html5 so it’s pretty badly coded, but that’s no surprise in a short competition time-frame. I finished most of the code on saturday, leaving sunday for animations and website work. I also added gaps in the room to make some levels more interesting.

The biggest part of sunday went to building a custom map editor, with shareable levels. I’m pretty psyched about that.

This is also the first project of mine to be featured on my as-yet-unbuilt new site, astudyinpixels. It is completely empty right now, but that’ll change in the future.

Congrats to everyone else who competed, it was a great weekend!
