First Jam in over 4 years!
So I'm old (ancient almost!) 38 yo dude :D I thought I didn't jam since my daughter was born early 2017, but I digged around to find that my last jam was actually LD39, which was August 2017, half a year after her birth :) There I've spent a whooping 5 hours on my submission! :D https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/space-squats-vr
So now I'm back! Recently I'm into retro pixels FPS games and I wanted to go that route for this Ludum. After knowing the theme, an "I always wanted to try this" thing popped into my mind - an indie Sci-Fi short I watched on DUST. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c53fGdK84rc I'm sure you'll be able to find my comment down there saying how I'd like to turn that concept into a game ;)
Now since animating humans might be a bit too much for a one-busy-with-real-life-game-developer-dude, I'll be going with the floating-orb-robot-thingy from the "Voodoo in my blood" music video.
So the concept is: you're this small robot with an unstable power source, you'll explode in 60 seconds. When you do, time goes back and you restart alongside your previous incarnation (as a different bot maybe?) The more I thought about instability the more ideas popped into my mind: like you cannot bump into other bots or you'll both explode. Having force-fields that destabilize your power source even more, reducing your time etc. So you carefully navigate this laboratory setting working together with your previous incarnations to progress the game and use you instability in some unique ways to solve puzzles and progress.
It's gonna be fun fun fun! Let the Jamming commence!
