Thanks and Thoughts

Hi everyone!

Now that the 49th Ludum Dare is over, I thought it was time to write something.

Firstly. Thanks a lot to everyone who played my game. Thank you for all votes, comments and feedback. Reading them all was a lot of fun. And every time someone wrote that they liked my game, I was very happy about it. These comments are one of the two most important reasons I'm participating in Ludum Dare, so they mean a lot to me. And there were so many, 112 people, who played and rated my game. This is the best result I got so far. One more time, thank you!

And the second reason is playing and rating games. I've played a lot of them. 255 in total, beating my previous record of 236. I've spent most of my free time over the past few weeks on playing as many as possible. And every second of the time I spent playing was worth it! There wasn't a single game that I didn't like, there was something special about each of them. From simple surprise jokes to complex gameplay. From adorable programmers' art to amazing pixel art and awesome 3D graphics. Interesting stories, cool game mechanics... You've all done an amazing job with your games, and you should all be proud of it!

About the theme "Unstable". At first I thought, "I guess it's ok", but now I love it. I was expecting some common themes like nuclear reactor games, physics based moves, games about stables and so on. But there were so many themes that caught me off guard, like all games about tables. This Ludum Dare theme is my personal favorite form of all four Ludum Dares I have participated in.

About my results. I am happy with them. In all categories, I did better than the worst ranting I got so far, and worse than the best ranting I got so far. So I kept my average. Which does not surprise me, because I only work on any kind of games during Ludum Dare. And I won in something. As far as I know, just before the final rankings was announced, I was the person with the most feedback given :)

Since, I have played so many games and left a comment on each one of them. I can look at the statistics of ranting given vs ranting received. I gave 233.125 points of ranting and received 110.75. That means that only about 47.5% of the people that game I played, played my game back. Do not get me wrong. I'm not mad at them or anything. But I think that shows something. One. On average, you need to play and comment on at least 40 games to get a chance of receiving 20 rantings back. And two. I suspect people aren't well-informed enough that they need to play games! Enough of my rambling.

Thanks to everyone how participated in Ludum Dare, I hope you all had a great time. I am happy that Ludum Dare exists and that we all can have fun together. So take care and see you all in April!
