Folklore definition: The traditional beliefs, customs, and stories of a community, passed through the generations by word of mouth.

Do myths and legends count here? Examples could be Greek Mythology or the Legend of King Arthur.

By the above definition, anything that has been written down wouldn't count as folklore. Then again, by 2022 I'm pretty sure everything has been written down at this point, so maybe we can ignore that part of the definition.

As far as the "community" part, maybe that's where the line would be drawn. "Community" perhaps implies a group of people that is smaller and more localized. Legends and myths tend to be fairly widespread and well-known, so would that disqualify them?

For the record, I'm just curious as to people's thoughts and thought this might be fun to discuss. At the end of the day, it probably just comes down to semantics and whatever "Folklore" means to you. 😊
