{"author_name":"cudabear","cat":"LD #33","comments":[],"epoch":1438805040,"likes":1,"metadata":{"p_key":"17062","p_author":"cudabear","p_authorkey":"25773","p_urlkey":"52361","p_title":"5th time in, let\u2019s go LD#33!","p_cat":"LD #33","p_event":"LD33","p_time":"1438805040","p_likes":"1","p_comments":"0","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"25773","us_name":"cudabear","us_username":"\/author\/cudabear\/","event_start":"1440115200","event_key":"29","event_name":"LD33"},"text":"<p>Hello everyone,<\/p>\n <p>As always, I&#8217;m really looking forward to the next Ludum Dare! \u00a0Nothing to get the good ol&#8217; inspiration flowing than a hectic weekend of hacking to throw together some awesome games.<\/p>\n <p>That said, I do have some focuses this weekend. \u00a0Ideally, I&#8217;d like to focus more on polish and less on complex gameplay. \u00a0It seems I always bite off more than I can chew! \u00a0I want to make something simple, stylized, and\u00a0strong this time around. \u00a0These will be my tools of the trade:<\/p>\n <p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n <ul>\n <li>Html 5 Canvas \/ Javascript, using the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/phaser.io\/\">Phaser<\/a>\u00a0framework. \u00a0It&#8217;s my go-to for any game development, now.<\/li>\n <li>As always,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/getgimp.com\/lp\/index.php?pk=6542&amp;c=Getgimp_US_Broad\">Gimp<\/a>\u00a0for art. \u00a0I keep wanting to get away from this beast but then I keep becoming more dependent on it. \u00a0Maybe one day I&#8217;ll branch out, but for now, if it&#8217;s not broken, why fix it?<\/li>\n <li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brashmonkey.com\/spriter.htm\">Spriter<\/a>\u00a0may be used if I decide to do something that&#8217;s not pixel art. \u00a0I like how it makes fluid animation easy, but the trade off is it&#8217;s not all that useful for pixel art styles where sprites change greatly between frames.<\/li>\n <li>One of the only things that went well for me last time was making my own custom song to fit the game! \u00a0I&#8217;ll be using\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lmms.io\/\" target=\"_blank\">LMMS<\/a>\u00a0again, but\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.abundant-music.com\/\">Abundant-Music<\/a>\u00a0will be my random music generation backup.<\/li>\n <li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bfxr.net\/\">BFXR<\/a>\u00a0for random game sound generation. \u00a0Can&#8217;t go wrong with some bleeps and bloops!<\/li>\n <li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sublimetext.com\/3\" target=\"_blank\">Sublime Text 3<\/a>\u00a0for code editing. \u00a0I&#8217;m lost without it.<\/li>\n <li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Cudabear\/ld33\">GitHub<\/a>\u00a0for source control management. \u00a0This time around, I&#8217;ll be using a Ludum Dare template I created for use with Phaser. \u00a0To be in line with the rules, I&#8217;ve hosted it <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Cudabear\/ldwrap\">here<\/a>. \u00a0Feel free to use it, if you wish! \u00a0It contains a rudimentary state management system and a preloader. \u00a0Just change the images around to whatever suits you.<\/li>\n <li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cudascubby.com\">My own website<\/a>\u00a0to host the finished product.<\/li>\n <li><a href=\"https:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/chronolapse\/\">Chronolapse<\/a>\u00a0for time lapse capture.
