TREDYFFRIN/EASTTOWN — The Tredyffrin and Easttown supervisors invite the public to a meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8 to discuss the fire and emergency service in the two municipalities.

The meeting is at 8 p.m. in the Tredyffrin Township building, 1100 Dupertail Road, Berwyn.

It is also available via Zoom.

During several public budget meetings in 2023, fire officials expressed concerns about the future needs of the fire companies. The concerns included staffing levels coupled with a decline in volunteers.

Berwyn Fire Chief Justin Brundage spoke about the future needs of the fire departments, including competitive wages for full and part-time firefighters and EMS, for all three fire companies.

The Tredyffrin supervisors purchased a property at 1485 Valley Forge Road for the Berwyn Fire Company substation. Construction is also underway for a new station on Bridge Avenue.

The Tredyffrin and Eastown supervisors agreed to focus this year on reviewing the fire and emergency management services.

In January, the Tredyffrin supervisors agreed to spend $7,000 for the first phase of an emergency services study to develop a plan for long-term fire and emergency services.

Robert Andrews, of Protection Development, Inc., San Antonio, will conduct a study and make recommendations on what is necessary. Andrews' background includes 30 years serving the East Whiteland Fire Company.
