CMT Music Awards 2023: How to watch live or on demand, stream free online

Who’s in the mood for a medley of epic country music performances? Blake Shelton, Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, The Black Crowes + Darius Rucker, and a slew of additional stars will take the stage at this year’s show to both razzle and, rumor has it, dazzle. The CMT Music Awards also includes hotly anticipated collaborations from Gwen Stefani and Carly Pearce and a must-see rendition of “You Oughta Know”featuring Alanis Morissette, Ingrid Andress, Lainey Wilson, Madeline Edwards, and Morgan Wade.

There are 17 nominees in the first round of fan voting for the night’s top honor - Video of the Year - including Carrie Underwood, who, with 25 wins, is the most-awarded artist in CMT history. She is also scheduled to perform. Other nominees for the night’s top honor include: Ashley McBryde with Caylee Hammack, Brandy Clark + Pillbox Patti; Blake Shelton; Cody Johnson; Elle King + Dierks Bentley; Gabby Barrett; HARDY + Lainey Wilson; Jimmie Allen; Keith Urban; Little Big Town; Luke Bryan; Luke Combs; Morgan Wallen; Walker Hayes; Ballerini; and Kane Brown with wife, Katelyn.

In addition, CMT is expanding its Breakthrough Video of the Year category into male and female subcategories to more thoroughly celebrate country music’s new talent. There are 12 nominees across the twin categories, including Avery Anna, Kylie Morgan, MacKenzie Porter, Megan Moroney, Morgan Wade and Tiera Kennedy in Breakthrough Female. Bailey Zimmerman, Corey Kent, Drake Milligan, Jackson Dean, Jelly Roll and Nate Smith comprise the Breakthrough Male category.

Shania Twain will be honored with the CMT Equal Play Award at this year’s show, and Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Cody Johnson, HARDY feat. Lainey Wilson, Kane Brown & Katelyn Brown, and Morgan Wallen will compete for Video of the Year. A full list of nominees can be found on CMT.com.

Gwen Stefani will team up with Carly Pearce for a world-premiere collaboration — and Shania Twain will receive the 2023 “CMT Equal Play Award.”

CMT has also added a slew of female powerhouses to its star-packed lineup for the 2023 CMT Music Awards to air live from the Austin, Texas’ Moody Center.

Best video of the year; awarded to the artist (male, female, group/duo or collaboration). Top six nominees, from the first round of voting, will be announced on March 27. The final three nominees, from the second round of voting, will be announced on show day, April 2. Final voting will be determined via social media and announced as the final category during the live show.
