A Sheepy! Post mortem!!!

What went well

I think the ideation went well to keep the scope small enough to be able to finish. A big factor of that was using PICO-8 which is a great way to prototype and make small games. Even with the extremely limited time I was able to spend actually working on the game I think it came out with potential.

What didn't go so well

Kids. Distractions kept getting in the way of spending more time. There was also a period where the game idea was not that fun and there were some interesting decisions to make about which direction to go. Also a pivot point that decided on the sheep theme.

There were a couple of minor coding bugs that sucked up a little bit of time.

Conclusion

I will be using PICO-8 for future game jams. I do want to add some additional features to the game that did not make it. Though when to add those has always been a open question for me. I usually stop after the COMPO time ends. And will only add or work on the games after ratings and the winner is chosen. Honestly rating games is a huge chore. Takes more work to play and review games than actually making them. Though a lot of the games need huge amounts of polish. And a game like Sheep Delivery would need a whole graphics overhaul and lots more content to make it on any platform. It might make an interesting mobile game though I'm not sure how the sliding wheel barrel picking up sheep would play. Worth a try!

Oh I need more reviews to get to 20 and I feel like a lot of games are kind of getting lost in the shuffle because there are just so many, please play!
