Ratings are meaningless, long live the comments
With the tiny percentage of all games people can look at and rate and the subjective nature of rating itself, the final rating is more or less based on luck. To get a higher score, you need to get lucky on getting people that: - just happen to like your game/style/genre - generally give higher ratings to all games - give 5 stars to every game they look at. This skews the results the worst. Seriously, who wants a participation reward? If you want to give those, just congratulate people on making a game in the comments.
Comments, on the other hand, are the most valuable , as long as they are honest, so you know what people like and don't like about what you made. The best ones tell you what and how you can improve.
Just remember: one good comment is worth a thousand 5 star ratings.
