Fantastic Post Mortem
I admit it. I was one of the theme ragers this time.
Actually I didn’t even wanted to participate, but when I saw the theme being a technical limitation rather than a theme, I intuitively made this –
The “Fantastic” Ludum Dare theme generator
It’s not even a generator as it says – it just throws some random items out of the list at you when you press a button.
Probably the largest effort went into providing strong user feedback for this single action.
What went wrong
- I participated although I had other stuff to do 😛
- It’s not much polished, nor an actual game
What went right
- Challenging my fear of using humor in games
- extremely rapid development – about 80min (new record for me)
- the humor may not be at the top, but the inside jokes are good enough for some giggles among other participants
- getting people to play & rate my game (see the vid by DietrichEpp below)
So all in all, this was a fun, little Ludum Dare for me, taking away my fear of using humor in games.
I also did a special of GameARTMonday with beautiful Ludum Dare games, you might be interested in:

RAAAAH, stop sayin it was technical limitation, people!

Yes, that’s why it’s a “bad” theme. People literally submitted any game without really a property that’s equal(example: “You only get one”, in one game you get one stone, in another you get one life).
