I&#8217;ve had decent luck using GoldWave to smooth-out and tweak those retro style effects.","spam":"N"}],"epoch":1417719120,"likes":0,"metadata":{"p_key":"25355","p_author":"kburkhart84","p_authorkey":"45489","p_urlkey":"60770","p_title":"Questing for comments about using \u201cretro\u201d audio in a non-realistic 3d style game","p_cat":"LD #31","p_event":"LD31","p_time":"1417719120","p_likes":"0","p_comments":"1","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"45489","us_name":"kburkhart84","us_username":"kburkhart84","event_start":"1417737600","event_key":"26","event_name":"LD31"},"text":"<p>I&#8217;m in regardless of the comments.\u00a0 But I mentioned in my post that I would likely be using GMStudio, making a 2d game, though due to my lack of capability with spriting, that I may very well do pre-rendered graphics for sprites instead.\u00a0 Now, I&#8217;m considering either doing this, or just using Unity and making something in 3d.\u00a0 I have messed with Unity plenty, so it isn&#8217;t so much an issue, though I have more practice with GM, but either way, via Unity or GM if I do use 3d(pre-rendered or in Unity in 3d realtime), the sound effects wouldn&#8217;t work.<\/p>\n <p>So my question is this.\u00a0 How much of an issue is this?\u00a0 I would likely be using bfxr to create sound effects.\u00a0 You guys know that these effects are quite retro generally, and I just don&#8217;t see how I could get them to match any 3d style that I know of.\u00a0 Even with a pretty cartoony style it still doesn&#8217;t feel like it matches.\u00a0 Now, I wouldn&#8217;t likely consider it for a final project, but for a JAM kind of thing, how much of an issue is it?\u00a0 How likely would it get judged down because of the lack of style cohesion between graphics and audio?<\/p>\n <p>Any comments on the subject are greatly appreciated.\u00a0 Thanks in advance.\u00a0 I&#8217;m just kind of holding the opinion that though pixel art looks great for many games, it is somewhat overused recently, and I tend to suck at it too.
