{"author_name":"Truck","cat":"LD #30","comments":[],"epoch":1408916280,"likes":0,"metadata":{"p_key":"27017","p_author":"Truck","p_authorkey":"8368","p_urlkey":"62455","p_title":"portmortemish","p_cat":"LD #30","p_event":"LD30","p_time":"1408916280","p_likes":"0","p_comments":"0","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"8368","us_name":"Truck","us_username":"truck","event_start":"1408665600","event_key":"24","event_name":"LD30"},"text":"<p>Going to sleep, but this is the furthest I&#8217;ve been in a LD and I actually have some things accomplished. \u00a0Notes for next time \/ review:<\/p>\n <ol>\n <li>Collision detection: this does not work like on the c64. \u00a0Lost some time thinking I could do it that way, but &#8211; no, that would be slow IF it worked, which it will not as we do not have hardware sprites.<\/li>\n <li>Math: I am not particularly good at math and need to review some basic things about this, though this was good practice (and I accomplished the math I set out to do.)<\/li>\n <li>Swankypaint works very well for doing the gfx, use it again &#8211; easy to mock up, and easy to adapt afterward better. \u00a0(Was fun when the red car showed up and I went &#8220;holy crap, that actually looks _good_&#8221;)<\/li>\n <li>Next time, just assume the theme will suck, take the ones you liked from the suggestion voting, put into a randomizer, and randomly pick that theme at launch. Then apply the sucktastic theme afterward.<\/li>\n <li>The idea of working with a sucktastic theme isn&#8217;t so bad, it&#8217;s good practice, but then &#8211; you have other things to practice.<\/li>\n <li>Do spend more time on this to get collision detection ideas in.<\/li>\n <li>You didn&#8217;t get to the Dentistry part, mostly due to the collision detection (which was mostly math issues.)<\/li>\n <\/ol>\n <p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n <p>Ok sleeping, putting this away &#8211; may pick it up later and work on it (in particular, the dentistry part probably needs to be done.)<\/p>","time":"August 24th, 2014 4:38 pm","title":"portmortemish"}
