Wow! This competition did not turn out as we expected.

As you can see, we both got really good progress with our original game, and we decided to split up for a little bit since I am doing 100% of the programming and John is doing art. John finished most of the art assets quickly, so he decided to make his own game for #LD29. He calls it “God Slayer”, (or I think. I forgot lol), and below is a cool sneak peek of what it currently looks like.
I won’t really tell too much about John’s game, since it’s still in concept phase, but I can talk about our compo game, which is now called “Descent”. This game is an infinite vertical falling jumper that features a mighty archaeologist trying to figure out what’s in the very bottom of the mysterious sink holes that have been appearing in the face of the earth. What’s on the bottom? Monsters? Dragons? Pot of gold? We are all not sure yet, but the main character sure wants to find out. If you don’t know what a sinkhole is, below is a cool sinkhole I found using Google Image search.
By the way, if you are wondering what we’re building our games with, I am using Unity3D, while John is using Flash.
And finally, the last photo is what the Descent: the game, looks like right now…(pardon the programmer art, I will work on integrating the art as soon as the sun rises tomorrow, lol)
Sinkhole in Florida!

Nicu Listana and John Funtanilla’s game, Descent w/ early programmer art.

John Funtanilla’s game for LD29, which I forgot what the name is.
