Won’t finish this one..
Seems like I won’t finish this LD unfortunately. I’ve decided to quit a bit early and finish some christmas shopping instead.
What went bad:
- Lack of progress – I have not gotten as far I would have hoped at this point. This is partly due to using Haxe which is a first for me. I started working on a framework to help me produce something quicker, but it didn’t get nearly far enough which means I had to spend a lot of time writing base code. The seconds reason is life in general. With a 4-month old son it is hard to just sit down and focus on game making.
What went well:
- Haxe and OpenFL – Except for not having written enough base code (or having enough experience with the language) to be efficient right from the beginning, I’m very happy with the choice to use Haxe and OpenFL. It is a lot of fun to work in and by next LD I will try to have a better framework done!
This is as far as I got:
I tried to make something that really took advantage of the theme. My idea was a game where you play as a robot that can only load one “program” (skill) into his system at once. The loaded program would then be used to solve puzzle to continue in the game. The challenge would be to figure out which program to use at what point and in which order to use them.

I am also learning haxe + openfl, but decided to stick with love2d for this competition. But I’m very impressed by the language, I’m looking forward coding with it. Too bad you had to quit though.
