A game with a snowman in it
I’m in and ready to make a game. Previously I’ve always worked out of Room 205 at the University of Aberdeen but this time I’m working out of the new hackerspace in town, Hackerdeen.
I’ve got my game idea sorted out (mostly) in my head. “You only have one dinner suit.” You must traverse dangerous envrionments to meet a snowman for dinner without getting any dirt on your suit.
I didn’t feel like drawing a snowman, so I purchased a snowman cookie from Greggs and took a picture of it. The council of IRC has decreed that this is permitted by the rules:
11:47 < irl> So, I want a snowman in my game. I had a snowman cookie so instead of drawing a snowman, I thought I could take a picture of it. Thing is, I didn't make the cookie. Is this allowed? 11:48 < YellowLime> irl I also thought of making it Christmas/Winter themed but... since we have a LD every December it doesn't make much sense? 11:48 < dib> Not according to the rules; but you don't really need to follow them that strictly - unless you want to win of course... 11:48 < irl> The cookie is readily available in Greggs stores across the UK, so others would have it available. 11:48 < YellowLime> irl I mean you can if you want to obviously, but dont feel pressured 11:48 < irl> YellowLime: The snowman is key to my story line, but it won't be winter themed other than that. 11:49 < YellowLime> irl oh okay. snowmen are cool :^)
So here’s the snowman that will be featuring in my game, that once complete you’ll be able to have dinner with:
I have, of course, now eaten the cookie. I hope I don’t need to retake the photo for any reason as then I’d need to get another.
I’ll be working in Python with PyGame as I have before, let’s get started.
