This will be my first entry to LD, it’s always fallen during exam times before. Now I’m graduated Monday is booked off work and I’m ready to go. It’s gonna be a real challenge and I think I may lack a bit of experience to really shine, but I’ll learn and improve.

I’ll be using EaselJS, SoundJS and PreloadJS for the codey stuffs written in Notepad++. I’m a tad nervous about using these. I only picked them up a month ago, so they are still a little new. But I’m determined to make a web embeddable game for easy distribution. I’d bring my professional experience as a computational chemist working in FORTRAN to bear instead… but I’m not a masochist.

GIMP for the graphics. It’s a great bundle that I’ve been using for donkeys years to butcher people’s photos. I’m completely comfortable with it and it’s tools. I might use the Wacom Bamboo tablet as well. Now I’ve just got to find some artistic talent…

Probably garage band for the music. It’s a tough choice, it will be that or Podium Free with some VST plugins. I’m nervous for using Podium though as I filled my windows machine with malware last week trying to download a drum plugin. Either way the EMU Xboard-61 will be coming out to provide MIDI. All going well I may even bust out the Cello.

Sound effects will be produced through a tried and tested method of mine. I’ll use my Edirol-25ex interface with a Sure SM58 mic to capture the sound of me vocalizing as best I can the effect I want to hear. This will be recorded into Audacity and processed with as many filters and layers as needed to get it sounding ‘good’. I’ll have to keep a record of the unprocessed clips, maybe produce a B-side version of the game with them…

Now if you will excuse me I’m off to cook a weekends worth of meals.
