So I started from scratch after my aborted attempts at pseudo-3D on a sphere. I’m now working purely in 2D, but still rotating around a circle. Below is a greatly sped up version of the spores that spawn every ten seconds.

Tomorrow I’ll add in the player and give you some way of dealing with the epidemic.
