{"author_name":"laserbeam","cat":"LD #27","comments":[],"epoch":1377315540,"likes":0,"metadata":{"p_key":"40687","p_author":"laserbeam","p_authorkey":"25081","p_urlkey":"76308","p_title":"Finally, a proper idea :)","p_cat":"LD #27","p_event":"LD27","p_time":"1377315540","p_likes":"0","p_comments":"0","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"25081","us_name":"laserbeam","us_username":"laserbeam","event_start":"1377216000","event_key":"18","event_name":"LD27"},"text":"<p>Finally, a proper idea that doesn&#8217;t involve &#8220;Do X in 10 sec&#8221;.<\/p>\n <p>How it went so far: Just woke up (Europe here&#8230; the compo started at 4-5 AM, I don&#8217;t even know), and spent about 30 minutes on &#8220;how to make 10 seconds solid?&#8221;, &#8220;Can I make a 10 second energy bar?&#8221;, &#8220;Checkpoints every 10 sec?&#8221; until I figured out that all of these ideas were just fancy energy\/mana bars you would consume in 10 seconds.<\/p>\n <p>Idea 2: I want to control something for 10 seconds, and I want it to be meaningful and complex, I want the player to care for something for 10 seconds. So how about a lemmings style game where new &#8220;lemmings&#8221; are spawned and they only live for 10 seconds and you have to take them to safety in that time?<\/p>\n <p>Refining: You get a 5&#215;10 grid with blocks (a road) that have orders and special effects (go down from here, go left from here, you are slowed here, teleports etc). They change randomly and you get a set of actions to move\/destroy\/replace any of them. How many 10 second lemmings can you get to the other side.<\/p>\n <p>Should be interesting since this map you keep changing (and changes randomly) is persistent. Complex paths could emerge and what you do at the 2nd unit could have huge impact for the 5th :D.<\/p>\n <p>Let&#8217;s do this thing!<\/p>\n <p>(Any feedback?)<\/p>","time":"August 23rd, 2013 10:39 pm","title":"Finally, a proper idea :)"}
