Looks like my entry won’t be completed in time! My plan originally was to make a TMNT-ish Beat Them Up game, but it turned into spaghetti! My next plan, and the one I worked on the longest and hardest, ended up turning into a visual novel inside Love2D! I still have the entire story to write, and it will not be finished before the end of the compo. I could probably come up with another game idea that could be made in the next 6 hours, but I’m completely out of energy, and I’d rather reflect on my experience of this weekend.

And wow, did I learn a lot on my first Ludum Dare!

• I have never done any sort of creative writing on my own. This weekend I spent less time programming, and more time inventing some characters, drawing a map of the city, planning their daily routines, and more! It was fun, and I’d like to continue to improve in that area.
• I have never tried making music on my own. Even though they were garbage, using LMMS to create the lazy 5-second loops was still fun! I’d like to get to a point where I can create something useful and enjoyable!
• Sleep really did help a lot. The first day I stayed up way too late, trying to get a good start, and the entire project ended up being garbage! Not having sleep isn’t entirely to blame, though. I’m still not that great a ‘grammer… yet, and I sort of rushed in there, creating a very messy situation! The next day when I had sleep, I was a lot more focused. I had a nice breakfast, and snacked on some good veggies. The possibility of creating a game without action came to mind, and I started work on what became the tiny game demo we have today.
• I recognize my weaknesses, yet I see them as only an opportunity to improve! It’s time to learn C! Then I’ll try C# or Java? I don’t really know but hey, let’s just go!

Also, in addition to learning all that nice stuff, I feel extremely motivated! Before the Ludum Dare, I was creating nothing and just letting the days pass. Now that I’m finished with it I can make any game I want, and want to! I could learn something new, learn to make music, too! It will all be fun, I’ll never be done, so many new areas to explore, always learning more!
