So I came up with a good idea, pulled up iTunes to play my normal LD background music, opened photoshop to get a few gfx going and talked to my best friend while I made gfx. Everything was going great, I finished my gfx and began to start coding. First let’s get the background showing, I normally start with a placeholder title screen. so I quickly whipped that up then proceeded to get the playstate up and running skipping my menustate. coding done, let’s test! Ok the title screen is working, pressing X to get to my playstate I see a black screen… hmmm… now my background is black with some starts one it… but what I was looking at wasn’t my background it was just a black screen. I tried several things, but nothing worked! %$#@! So I went to bed to sleep on it. I just got up, came back done and stared at it for about a minute or so and tried it again. Yep same black screen. So I decided to get some text on the screen just to test something else. Got the code in and… nothing!?! *SIGH*, and then it hit me like a ten ton truck! Remember when I said I got the playstate up and running skipping the menustate… well that was the plan but not what I coded… so yeah, I checked the titlestate and sure enough I switch to the menustate and not the playstate. This is not a good way to start an LD. But atleast I found the problem before wasting too much time…
