You’re doing it wrong.
That’s pretty much me. I’m in the middle of the competition and I’m lost. I don’t know where to go; I have no focus. I’m not counting myself out just yet, but I do need time to think. Time I don’t really have, mind you. I have to make the jam deadline, but making the compo is cutting it really close and would sacrifice the quality of what I’m making.
Anyway, here are some screenies.
The start screen. You start off with no game, fiddling around trying to start the game. Graphics are non-existent. There is no gameplay.
When you do start the game you are dropped into a text adventure. Still no graphics, but you can move along an axis and interact with things so it’e evolved a bit.
At some point you are transported to a simple rogue like. Now the characters are representing something and form a grid. There’s also someone else. A bit more evolution.
Next, add grayscale bitmap graphics and enemies that can hurt you. Then add full color images, weapons, and enemy movement. Finally, amazing particle effects, awesome sound effects, sweet music, and a conclusion to the plot.
*sigh* But all that is a long way away. I think I’ll head to bed for now.
