First time

Hello there!

I’m Gil, and I am a beginner programmer. But not like “I’m a beginner, I have been playing around with flash a bit”. No, I’m REALLY in the beginning.

I am on the first year of college, and I have never touched programming before. The first language they taught me was C. Not C++, not C#. Just C. Like, one of the first programming languages from the 70’s… The one that inspired the majority of modern languages (like Java, C++ and C#).

Because of the limitations of C and of my knowledge, I can only make a Text Game. If you like retro, mine can’t go much back! This will be also a great test for myself with deadlines, rating, and all things involved in for real life programming. As this is all a test and a challenge for me, I’m going to join the Jam.

I hope I can at least make it playable and enjoyable! Have fun!

Update #1: Yeah, crossed the no return point with this post… Mood: Nervous

Maybe, if you have been programming for a bit… And has basic knowledge of statements and how to use functions… Go look at Lua and Love2D. It is a framework to help make 2D games. Handles mostly graphical side stuff. Should not be too hard to pick up. The Love2D Wiki is full of examples!
