Civilized Pixel – Civilization in a Very Tiny World
Hey everyone! I have decided to join the Ludum Dare for the first time. The game I will be entering is “Civilized Pixel”, a civilization-building game where the buildings are built of pixels. I am creating a development log, and I will often post sections of it. This is the 5th dev log. I am using GameMaker 8.0 to develop the game. Here, I will release the dev-log section of Saturday night, and a screenshot:
Saturday Night:
7:33 – I am done with all the main towers, might add a few more later. Before I do anything else, I will test the game out.
7:45 – Nearly 15 minutes of gameplay in before I got bored. Needs to be more challenging. After a few minutes, my money shot up like a rocket. Going to add in more gameplay rules.
7:46 – Adding in new gameplay rules. The first one is random happiness decrease, and there will also be random money billings. This should make the game a lot more challenging…
8:58 – Something went wrong with the computer, but it is all fixed now. Back to work. I think I will add some random disasters such as tornadoes, sinkholes, etc.
9:29 – Sinkholes and tornadoes have been successfully added.
9:56 – I think I have some music (that I have rights to) loaded somewhere on this computer… Searching…
10:31 – Added in some music and sound effects, and squashed a bug with the disaster events.
10:36 – Going to add in a tutorial level.
10:52 – Decided to eat some cereal and watch TV.
11:04 – Finished the bowl of cereal and decided to postpone development of the tutorial until after the competition, as it would take to long. Instead, I am just going to include a small info-box thingy.
11:06 – Preparing all music and sounds.
11:14 – Going to include a scrolling engine so rooms can be larger
11:24 – OMG I AM GOING TO HAVE TO CHANGE ALL OF THE MENU COORDINATES TO FLOW WITH THE ROOM’S VIEW!!!
11:27 – This is going to take FOREVER!!! Which is why I am going to save it for tomorrow. Goodnight!
Note: This picture is outdated from last night and has been improved on a lot.
