{"author_name":"schnerble","cat":"LD #23","comments":[],"epoch":1335039480,"likes":0,"metadata":{"p_key":"57457","p_author":"schnerble","p_authorkey":"11560","p_urlkey":"93206","p_title":"Finally moving","p_cat":"LD #23","p_event":"LD23","p_time":"1335039480","p_likes":"0","p_comments":"0","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"11560","us_name":"schnerble","us_username":"schnerble","event_start":"1334880000","event_key":"10","event_name":"LD23"},"text":"<p>It hasn&#8217;t been exactly my best first day on a project.\u00a0 Although I came up with an idea I like, I spent several hours messing around with sprite flickering problems &#8211; nothing like a bit of jerkiness to ruin the experience.\u00a0 As always with the tricky ones there were lots of permutations &#8211; vsync, double buffering, graphics drivers, Linux vs Windows, two graphics cards in my machine, float to int rounding in my code, float to int rounding in library code, subpixel rendering, etc.\u00a0 I even rewrote almost the whole thing in pyglet at one stage, after originally starting with pygame, but it didn&#8217;t seem to make that much difference, though for a while it looked like it would.<\/p>\n <p>Anyway, I finally feel like the rendering is reasonably smooth for the movement now, so I can finally get on to getting some content and gameplay in there.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a very long way to go yet, but fingers crossed I&#8217;ll get something interesting done (:<\/p>","time":"April 21st, 2012 3:18 pm","title":"Finally moving"}
