Thru the good\u00a0fortune of being currently unemployed I can finally participate in Ludum Dare #23. I’ve been a fan of this site for a long time but still I’ll admit I don’t know what I’m doing and I have no expectations beyond completing a game within the time frame and not sleeping for 48 hours. I’ve a fair bit of experience programming games, pretty much as a hobby right now.<\/p>\n

I’m pretty comfortable with Flixel so I can be sure to use that.<\/p>\n
Graphics will pretty much be made with Photoshop, I actually bought CS5.5 awhile ago so I like to use it just so I can feel I’m getting my moneys worth even though it’s going to be pixel art, I’d rather use what I know than a pixel editor program that I would be burning time learning to use.<\/p>\n
Who knows what I’m going to do for sound effects, I’ve never really played around with creating my own and not sure where to find good usable sounds online.<\/p>\n
Music… I don’t really have an ear for music at all so we shall see how that goes.<\/p>\n

I’ve always tried not to create my own art for the games I make (because I never really feel comfortable with the end result), and usually that means I can’t really release anything due to copyright restrictions but in hindsight: the amount of time I spend finding that perfect open source image to use online, I could have just thrown together some rather poopie but charming programmer art.<\/p>\n
I don’t plan on doing a time-laps but I shall be blogging with as many photos as I find relevant and try to get into this community! I love the creative openness of this website. This dare is kind of a “Do your best with what you got Ryan” and next time I’m sure I’ll be more prepared for it.<\/p>\n
