why? i mean, it’s not terrible, but aside from notch making it and it being vaguely similar to minecraft what makes it a winner, it’s even further stretching the theme than my game is The graphics are no better than most others, it has no sound to speak of, you’re not alone by any stretch of the word or feeling. There’s several far more deserving games out there.

Gah… Maybe entries should be anonymous until voting ends. I know it’s unpractical, since there is the community grade that requires the journal, but well. Maybe it would avoid this kind of things.

No worries. The people allowed to vote have at least submitted some sort of gamelike try, which is still a good basis to give a more informed vote than just yelling “It’ by Notch! Ep1c win !!!11!!1!”.
The last times the LD winners were even objectively among the best games of the compo.

We should have a Ludum Dare AllStars sometime, where only veterans and winners are allowed to take part. 😀
