I\u00a0<strong>slept about 3 hours<\/strong>\u00a0per night and spent almost every waking hour on the game.<\/li>\n <li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ludumdare.com\/compo\/2011\/12\/19\/the-last-adventurer-postmortem-1-process\/vern-mini\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-101721\"><img class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-101721\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/vern-mini.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"67\" height=\"73\" \/><\/a>Game runs (relatively) smoothly. Given how little I optimized, and how many graphical tricks I used, I think <strong>20-30fps is pretty good<\/strong>.<\/li>\n <li>I&#8217;m getting the hang of Javascript.<\/li>\n <li>HTML5 canvas turned out to have a lot of relevant useful features<\/li>\n <li>Really pleased with how the boss of level 4 turned out (and I got in a <em>Wayne&#8217;s World<\/em> reference)<\/li>\n <li>Really pleased with how the <strong>rotating gameplay area<\/strong> turned out<\/li>\n <li>Happy with the graphics, sound, and character design for the most part<\/li>\n <li>Deploying to web turned out to be pretty easy. I&#8217;m very happy to have <strong>my first web-based LD game<\/strong><\/li>\n <\/ul>\n <p>Bad:<\/p>\n <ul>\n <li>I get so engaged with my game during the competition that I have trouble joining <strong>the community<\/strong>. I&#8217;ll have to make up for it now that it&#8217;s over.<\/li>\n <li>Navigating an <strong>isometric layout is a tricky<\/strong> problem<\/li>\n <li>Had to leave out <strong>in-game instructions<\/strong><\/li>\n <li>I wish I had more <strong>engaging gameplay<\/strong>, but it&#8217;s fine for what it is<\/li>\n <li>Had to leave out storyline (which is fine because it was too depressing)<\/li>\n <li>Sprites are cut way down from my original idea, surprising no one<\/li>\n <li>Had to develop in Firefox because of how Chrome handles trusted domains on local filesystems<\/li>\n <\/ul>\n \n <p>Tags: <a href=\"http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/tag\/postmortem\/\" rel=\"tag\">postmortem<\/a><\/p>","time":"December 19th, 2011 11:52 pm","title":"The Last Adventurer postmortem #1 \u2013 process"}
