I, too, am in
This will be my first LD, I’m excited for it. I can’t decide what I want to make my game in though. I’m skilled with Java, C/C++, and Python, and I’ve been looking at Unity recently. I’m thinking about perhaps using Game Maker for this competition though.
Any thoughts/suggestions?

I would avoid anything that is gonna hard to port (ideally, it should be cross platform from the get go), or anything that requires that the user has something already installed.

I don’t think that being cross platform (or easy to port) is important for a competition like LD. As long as you compile for one of the four main platforms (linux/win/osx/web), there will be plenty of people who can play and rate your game.

“I suggest using whichever language you feel you work quickest with.” Very true, as long as you target one of the main platforms you will get plenty of people to try your game, *but* it’s always better to have the most people possible to comment on your game. So if you are comfortable I would go for a web game (either html5 or flash).
