{"author_name":"OPifexEntertainment","cat":"October Challenge 2011","comments":[],"epoch":1318468800,"likes":0,"metadata":{"p_key":"63408","p_author":"OPifexEntertainment","p_authorkey":"6877","p_urlkey":"99186","p_title":"Are we almost half-way already?","p_cat":"October Challenge 2011","p_event":"LD21","p_time":"1318468800","p_likes":"0","p_comments":"0","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"6877","us_name":"OPifexEntertainment","us_username":"opifexentertainment","event_start":"1313712000","event_key":"7","event_name":"LD21"},"text":"<p>As we near our first milestone, <strong><font size=\"3\">OPifex Entertainment<\/font><\/strong> is almost ready to roll out our engine and begin building our game.&#160; The concept and game design have been finalized, so all that\u2019s left is to put the pieces together!<\/p>\n <p>It\u2019s a good thing our game <font size=\"2\"><strong><font color=\"#000000\" size=\"4\">Splat!<\/font> <\/strong><\/font>is going to be relatively simple.&#160; This allowed us to use the first half of the month to work on the <em><font color=\"#ff0000\">Rough Edges<\/font><\/em> engine, which is named after our next, much larger project.&#160; The engine is built using <em>SlimDX<\/em>, which gives us easy access to the powers of D3D 10 and D3D 11.&#160; While we take the slightest performance hit for using C#, we more than make up for it in development time.<\/p>\n <p>Since most of the work is done by the engine, we\u2019re going to use <font size=\"3\">LUA<\/font> to script the game into place.&#160; Through the use of the engine\u2019s powerful API, sculpting a game has never been more fun, or easy!&#160; We highly recommend using the highest level tools available to you and your team\u2019s skillset.&#160; Development is fast, and more likely to be completed.&#160; Using C# and SlimDX is our way of cutting out the headaches of most programming tasks while still holding complete power over our creations.<\/p>\n <p>We\u2019ve started some animations and other art assets, so here\u2019s another teaser.
