What’s better?

Hi all. My name is Aaron and I am thinking of entering the next Ludum Dare compo, and this would be for me to get better at that language. I am just stuck on one problem. Which language is that gonna be?

I have heard from multiple people that C# is good and Java is easy to learn. I know both of these fairly. But I want to continue learning this language so I come here to find out what language is best to use in game programming. I know there are some professional’s here and know what a good language is for games, and all I am is a noob. So, if you wouldn’t mind, could you please comment on what a good game programming language is.

Thanks a bunch,
Aaron

Different people are going to have different opinions, and it’s entirely subjective. It’s a bit like saying “which is a better color, red or blue?”

Also, a good way to look at programming languages is to see them as tools, like a hammer or saw. You can’t really ask “which is better, a hammer or a saw?” because they each have their own pros and cons depending on what situation you’re in. So, see what you can use C# for, see what you can use Java for, and decide from there which language suits your needs best.

Programming languages like C#, Java and Action Script 3 aren’t all that different. And it’s getting ridiculously easy to make games with any of them. I’d say find a game on here that you really like and take a look at its source code. And then just go for that language.
