{"author_name":"vitae","cat":"LD #21","comments":[],"epoch":1313960400,"likes":0,"metadata":{"p_key":"63976","p_author":"vitae","p_authorkey":"1653","p_urlkey":"99762","p_title":"Escape from the Frame final","p_cat":"LD #21","p_event":"LD21","p_time":"1313960400","p_likes":"0","p_comments":"0","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"1653","us_name":"vitae","us_username":"vitae","event_start":"1313712000","event_key":"7","event_name":"LD21"},"text":"<p>Escape from the frame is, well, unfinished. \u00a0The four levels I have all work reasonably, but they&#8217;re not to the quality I would like them to be. \u00a0Perhaps that&#8217;s the status of a 48-hour compo, but I see others whose games I would be satisfied with&#8230; \u00a0At least I did build something playable. \u00a0That&#8217;s the main goal of this, no?<\/p>\n <p>Get Escape from the Frame at: http:\/\/www.cavein.org\/~chris\/code\/escape or from the links in my entry page (which go to the same places)<\/p>\n <p>For Escape from the Frame, I started out with too large of a goal. \u00a0I wanted a mini-game mash-up, but the games ended up more frustrating and less fun. \u00a0I also ran out of good health Saturday even\/night, so some of my brainstorming\/developing time got lost.<\/p>\n <p>Things I&#8217;ve learned from this compo: \u00a0start simple, but not too simple. \u00a0Gravity is a harsh mistress. \u00a0Spend more time on gameplay, less time on achieving stable orbit for the actors. \u00a0The trip to the brewpub was a godsend, and should be repeated next time. \u00a0Sleep just enough, not too little, not too much. \u00a0You can&#8217;t draw, vitae. \u00a0You can&#8217;t music, vitae. \u00a0Try using generators for such things better. \u00a0Generic tools can combine in wonderful ways. \u00a0MacBook Pro is a fun machine to tool around on, and will probably serve as a main box soon. \u00a0And much much more&#8230;<\/p>","time":"August 21st, 2011 4:00 pm","title":"Escape from the Frame final"}
