Long after Flash has faded into obscurity (about when they work out the bugs in the android port), after Java has returned to meaning coffee or an island, after Microsoft becomes focused on “iOS consultancy”, the C family of languages will remain, like cockroaches after a nuclear war, dragging OpenGL behind it (it’s still a state machine, dammit, conceptually pure, nevermind these object handle thinggies). These things weren’t designed to be pretty. They won’t make your life easier, coddle you, manage your memory or warn you if you pointer bomb some data structure with a stray comma (that’s an operator?). These are wartime languages, they get things done and they run everywhere (after a quick recompile, of course. Bytecode is for the weak).","spam":"N"},{"author_name":"","time":"April 18, 2011 3:36 am","epoch":1303115760,"text":"Are you still using Ogre?
