A Mr. Dude Flip-Flop – My “For Real This Time” Mini-LD Entry
Foxy Ninja is taking longer than I thought it would, partly because of how much of last weekend I wasted. So… I’ve decided that I will flip-flop about my Mini-LD entry, as I so often do. (Though this time it’s well before the start of the Mini-LD proper, for what that counts for)
I’ve got another idea, though. I want to make a bullet hell shmup.
I’m using the “Pick’n’Mix” theme as follows:
Theme: Alternate universe spinoff (Street Fighter – Requires explanation)
Restriction: 2-Button Input (Mouse motion + Mouse click)
Rule: Use software you’ve never used before (BulletML)
Yeah, Street Fighter. It takes place in the year 2287, and is about pilots of heavily-armed fighter ships taking on the evil Admiral Bison as he tries to take over the solar system. I will pick a handful of Street Fighter characters, give them each a ship with a few different weapons, stick some upgrades in, and we’re off and running!
I will make the game in AS3 using FlashPunk. Good times. I will probably use Gimp for graphics, but may fall back on Inkscape. Oh, and I’ll be using BulletML, too. Can’t forget that, can we?
I might have some extra work for my economics class this weekend, depending on how much work my group decides to put into the proposal for our group project. (Weird semester-long group project, likely to be a hassle) Because of that, I’m going the time between Thursday night and Monday night to work on my game. Yes, 96h for a 48h compo. It’s just a Mini, after all.
I might work on Foxy Ninja some more tonight, and will probably go through with finishing it, but it just didn’t happen last weekend. If anyone’s interested, I can post a demo of what I have some time tomorrow.
Peace, love, and good gaming
